Component Locking - Beta testing

We've added the ability to lock Components on the canvas, making it easier to manage complex Shards with many elements.

  • Lock / unlock individual Components from the context menu
  • Lock / unlock individual Components from the properties inspector panel
  • Automatically lock all Components added to the canvas (can be toggle on or off)
  • Hold ALT to move a locked Component

Improvements released to Beta

A new device connection method has been added, which should reduce the time it takes to connect to GG from your phone or tablet.

As part of ongoing performance enhancements, a new and optimised component rendering method has been added. This should make Shards feel snappier and more responsive.

New components in Beta - WebEmbed, Image & Clock

Three new component types have been added to our Beta Group.

WebEmbed

This component allows you to add a snippet / iFrame of almost any website to a Shard. Anything from maps, to-do lists, quest guides, and more.

Image

An easy way to add an image from any URL, great for backgrounds, custom button panels, or other decorations. 

Clock

Add a customisable clock to any Shard. Set the style, colours, background, and even timezone.

GG Hub - Beta - 4.0.5

Beta 4.0.5 has been released.

Update notes:

  • Implemented new code framework
  • Minor updates to Home screen
  • Added "Check for updates" button to Settings
  • Removed legacy Elite Dangerous settings
  • Various back-end changes in preparation for new features in coming Beta releases

GameGlass Hub - Beta

Testing of the new GameGlass Hub has begun!

We have a long list of new features in development - from small changes to transformative new game experiences. Testing them to make sure they're stable, bug-free, and as polished as possible for our community is important.

Your input and feedback is a critical part of this. Thank you for helping.

We're kicking things off with a new version of the GameGlass desktop app.

It contains no new features, but implements a new code framework that is required for everything that follows.

Snap to Grid, Stability & Community

Happy Tuesday everyone!

We have some improvements we would like to share.  There is plenty more to talk about than this update, and we can't wait to do so.  We will be having a live event either later this month, or early next month.  Communication will be sent out regarding this when we set a date :)

new Snap to Grid

A new feature has dropped in the Forge, Snap to Grid!  This quality-of-life feature makes it extremely simple to align components to create shards.

Here's how to turn it on:


improvement Community Revamp

We've completely overhauled our Discord server to be more user-friendly, easier to find, and promote more social interactions.  The channels have been cleaned up, new ones have been added, and there are now many places to share and ask questions.

That's not all, because we will have some awesome new community features to talk about very soon...

Bounding Box Changes, Improved Knowledgebase

Happy Friday!

The GG team has been hard at work ever since a week at GDC (what a great time!) and we have a couple of improvements to share with you.

Bounding Box Changes

  • Removed centred grab handles.  You can now drag any edge by just hovering over it.
  • There is no more rotation grab handle in the bottom center of the bounding box.  Instead, you just hover your mouse around the corner you want to rotate, and your cursor will change to the rotation indicator.
  • Added dimensions of the object.
  • When you hover over an object that isn't selected, the bounding box will show to indicate what you are about to select.

Support Improvements

  • Updated and added new knowledgebase articles to our support center
  • We now run on Intercom!  That means you can easily reach us by clicking the widget in the bottom right of the website.
  • Within the widget, other than messaging us, you will also find other useful information like the status of GameGlass, our most recent updates, and the ability to search for knowledgebase articles.

Introducing the new GameGlass Updates Page

Thank you for checking out the GameGlass Updates Page to learn about all the new, updated, and fixed features hot off the press.

We wanted to have an interactive and frequently updated newsfeed that reflects our latest announcement. The world is a place for continuous integration and continuous deployment; therefore, we now provide you with product releases as often as possible, to show that the product is constantly evolving.

Our previous communication channels lacked the ability to do this at a more granular scale, so we now have a solution that will allow us to do that without cluttering up your feeds.

Feature requests

You can now easily suggest new features and ideas that you have for GameGlass directly from our Updates Page or from the "What's New" link located on the GameGlass website.

These requests will be reviewed internally, and you will be notified directly if they make the roadmap!  Keep them coming, as they define what we prioritize.

You can also vote on features you would like to see directly from the "Suggest a Feature" button.

Roadmap (Upcoming)

While we refine our internal roadmap, we are reimagining how we want to share our public-facing roadmap.  

As many of you know, creating a well-rounded public-facing roadmap that encapsulates what we are working on, and what you want to see while meeting arbitrary deadlines is a difficult balancing act.

For now, the roadmap, which is just shown as "Upcoming", will display high-level items we are working on without providing too much detail.  This will be updated and iterated upon as we continue to provide more frequent updates.

2023 will be an exciting year for GameGlass!

There are many more updates we would like to share with you, but they will come in due time.  

We have a renewed focus on our communication with our amazing community and customers, and can't wait to share what we are working on with you.  

The GameGlass team is off to GDC next week, if you happened to be around and want to connect, please reach out!

  • New and improved status page.  You can now also view the status of GameGlass in the footer of our website.  Check it out at https://status.gameglass.gg

  • Added password manager support to mobile apps

  • The GG mobile app will no longer require you to log in every gaming session.
  • The "Save" button will no longer disappear when creating Shards
  • The select box in the action editor will no longer be hidden underneath the state panel
